Tea Party Movie Saturday Feb 27

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Feb 22, 2010:

The Havelock Tea Party group has advised that due to a wake being held at Carolina Pines Fire Station #6, the viewing of The Tea Party Movie has been moved to 6 PM, this Saturday, February 27.

If you have further questions, you may contact them via their website:
http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Group/Patriots_28560

Patriots28560 of Havelock,  a group of non-partisan, concerned citizens who have joined together to resist excessive government spending and taxation, affiliated with the Tea Party Patriots as well as the 912 Project, will be hosting a viewing of the Tea Party Movie on February 27th, 6 PM, at Carolina Pines #6 Fire Department in Havelock. This movie runs approximately 1.5 hours and is an excellent film covering the birth of Tea Party Patriots on Feb 27, 2009 through the March on Washington Sept 12, 2009.  This is a very inspirational and motivating film.

Please visit their blog at Patriots28560.blogspot.com. for all the details. Patriots 28560 has requested RSVP if you plan to go - there is a seating capacity of 120, and a headcount will be necessary.

Morehead Tea Party Patriots Go Into High Gear

Tuesday night's meeting of the Morehead Tea Party Patriots saw what was by far the largest gathering  of area citizens
wanting to plan for and be part of Taking Back Our Country in 2010 ( and beyond). Almost 50 folks gathered to begin laying the foundation for events to be held both locally and nationally  which will  continue to raise public awareness of the need for all of us to act with our feet at the ballot box November 2.

Currently,  our primary focus is on April 15 ( Tax Day). Committees are being formed to explore all opportunities for holding our 2nd Annual TEA Party rally here in Carteret County, and, to organize a concurrent bus trip to Washington DC. We will be advising
where help may still be needed in the next few days.

Other events being considered are July 4th and a second March on Washington in either late August or early September.

We are also discussing holding forums for local, state and national candidates to be heard.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday,  February 9 at 5:15. We are planning to meet at Cox's Restaurant, but need to hear from those who attended this Tuesdays meeting and others of you who would like to attend the Feb. 9 meeting by sending a short email to tea-crew@ec.rr.com advising of your plans. If it appears the gathering will be much larger, we will need to meet elsewhere and advise everyone of new developments.

A final reminder: Although we have experienced many great victories over the last few months, there is much more work to be done and vigilance to be kept in order to Take Back America. We hope you, your family and friends will continue to help keep our country great.

Our Group Shined in Washington DC on 9-12

What a day! What a wonderful day!
The 9-12 March on the Capitol was a huge and historically significant event.
The actual numbers are still coming in from crowd estimation experts, but the massive gathering, its make-up of a cross-section of America
and its  MESSAGE  have woken up  both our country and the world..
Those of us who traveled with the Morehead Tea Party Patriots came back home more energized than ever.
Still, 9-12 is just another volley fired in what will be a long and arduous battle to Take Back America from crooked elected officials and bureaucrats
residing inside of the Reupblican and Democrat parties.

For  pictures,  video and commentary on our  our group's 9-12 travels click here.
Now it is time to get involved in the grassroots workings of both parties.
Incumbents ( most , if not all) need to be voted out and replaced by concerned citizens; citizens who will genuinely  promise to shrink the ever -expanding  government control over in American's lives.....and follow through on that promise. We need elected citizens who will treat America's budget like we all must do ourselves in our own lives.
This is needed at the local, state and national levels.
Future mailings will more closely address Cleaning House.

Finally we want to acknowledge  our greatfullness to the local patriots who
sposored a portion of our trip with their money and services:
Cox's Family Restaurant
Capt Stacy Fishing Center
eCare Web Solutions
Cindy and David Harvell
Brad Cummings
Susan Garlow
Jean and Ray Wermeister
Woodie Woodruff
David Elsworth ,Charlote Ellsworth and David Elsworth Jr
Connie Tippett
Carol Wellford
Butch Gentry
Don andLorettaAcree
Ida Vickory
Neil and Bev Jeansonne
Sarah Fitzpatrick

In the end it was these folks, those who went to DC and those who stayed behind and prayed for America who made 9-12 a  fantastic reality.
MANY THANKS TO ALL !!!!

All of you who have requested T-shirts will have them waiting for you at the bus. Please bring EXACT CHANGE to pay the bus captain. Any amount you present which is over your shirt cost will go to fund future efforts of the Morehead Tea Party Patriots. Personal Bus Trip Check list

We are providing the following list of items you should consider bringing with you for this Saturday's March on the Capitol.
There is plenty of extra room below the bus for items you may need to store, including walkers and wheelchairs.

Cash: At least $100 on various denominations
Small backpack or hand bag
Cell Phone
Collapsible umbrella
Medications
Bottled water
Fruit or snack bars
Poncho
Sunscreen
Camera
Map of the area of the March
Pen and paper
Walking shoes ( your best pair)
Extra pair of socks
Pillow
Blanket
Extra tissue/ toilet issue ( in event bus supplies run out)
VERY IMPORTANT: READ THE ATTACHED MEMO....it covers these items and much more in greater detail. THIS IS A MUST READ:

ON THE BUS

  1. There has to be a bus leader / team leader on the bus. This will be someone who will NOT get lost, will KNOW HOW to get back to the bus, and will have a phone that will always ring, and not go dead. So the phone has a big battery, or spare phone batteries.

  2. The Team Leader will pass out a clip board and on it EVERYONE will write down their SEAT NUMBER on the bus, their name, cell phone number, home phone number. Why? Because when the team leader gets back, he/she can see who is missing, by looking for empty seats, and then cal the person / phone number associated with the empty seat. Do not rely on saying, “who ever is missing, please raise your hand.” As a team leader, and bus, you will leave NO ONE BEHIND.

  3. BEFORE everyone leaves the bus, the team leader passes out a 3x5 note card to everyone, and everyone writes down on THEIR card the cell phone number of the team leader, the company  name and number of the bus, and where the bus is parked and waiting for them. Each person keeps this card. So if they get lost, they can ask a DC resident, how do I get to THIS location ( parking lot So and So near intersection of This street and That street ). A local will be able to point you in the right direction. Plus the lost person, or delayed person, or injured person, can easily call the team leader, and say I'm 10 minutes behind, I'm here, I'm staying overnight in a hotel with friends and will get a ride back etc...

ON THE GROUND & WHAT TO TAKE

        1. Money. Take at least $100 and I'd say take $15 in one dollar bills or 1 dollar coins and take $5 in quarters. Or take a whole role of quarters ($10). Take the rest of the money in $20 bills. You will need dollars and quarters to buy anything from vending machines, merchants, markets, etc... and these use dollar bills and quarters. Plus you need money for cab fair, if you can't walk that far back to the bus and you want to take a ride.

  1. We're going to talk about what you need to take with you, so lets just start with a very comfortable back pack or big purse / shoulder bag. What ever your favorite is, get it.

  2. The first thing that can make you miserable faster than anything else is the weather.  Will it be sunny, hot, cold, cool, wet or all of the above?  Make sure you dress appropriately and bring the right cloths, if its going to rain, make sure you bring a light weight water proof coat you can tie around your waist, or stuff in your back pack.  Sunny? Bring a hat and sun block.  You know how to do this.  I don't need to spell it out for you.

  3. Water Water Water.  Bring water.  About 3 liters would be good, especially if its going to be hot in DC. DO NOT GUZZLE a whole bottle at once because then you'll be looking for a bathroom and those will either be hard to find or very very disgusting.  Good rule of thumb, drink a mouthful about every 5 minutes before you get thirsty, or when you are thirsty.  Instead of the water passing through you, it will get absorbed into your body and used.  If you guzzle a bottle of water, 3/4ths of it will be going down the drain in short order.  When your bottle is empty, do NOT throw it out.  You might have to REFILL IT from a drinking fountain, you might give the empty bottle to be refilled by someone who did NOT read this helpful list.

  4. Food, you'll get hungry, so either plan on fighting with a million people for food in DC or bring your own.  Apples, oranges, other fruit or food bars, granola bars, trail mix that you make, nuts, candy bars, junk food... what ever you like to take with you when you need something to eat. Bring it.  Just make sure its NOT something like chocolate that will melt or something like bananas that will get crush.

  5. If you are eating and drinking, then you'll have to use the bathroom.  Think PORTA POTTIES.  Think NO TOILET paper, think disgusting, dirty, stinky.  So if I were you, and especially if you are a female of the human species, I'd bring some of my own toilet paper, like a half roll, and wet wipes or hand sanitizer or something you can use what your butt might touch and something to clean your hands from everything else around you.

  6. You are going to need a working cell phone. Do not be stupid.  Bring your cell phone and bring a small wall charger.   Charge it up at home, and keep it plugged in on the bus (120 volts, most busses have them).  Ideally when you leave the bus, you'll unplug your phone and now take it with you with a 100% perfect battery.  Your cell phone will be your communications back to the bus and to home.  Plus you might take photos, video and other documentation of your trip with your cell phone.

  7. Walking Walking Walking. You  are going to walk all around DC and walk back to the bus.  You'll be standing on your feet all day.  Make sure you have darn comfortable shoes and socks on.  Good shoes that you know you won't give you blisters or sores.

THINGS THAT WILL BREAK, GET SORE, DIE, GET HURT etc...

1.  You're gonna get thirsty and hungry, but we talked about that above.  Bring food, water and money.   That will take care of it.

2.  You're going to find porta pottie with no toilet paper and that are disgusting.  Bring some toilet paper and wet wipes / hand sanitizer

3.  Your phone battery is going to die.  If your wall charger is small enough, bring it with you so you can charge it a bit and make a phone call if you have to.

4.  One of the most important things that will go wrong is your skin.  Your cloths might chafe, or rub and you might get a rash, a sore spot.  You might get blisters on your feet or sore spots.  You'll probably get sunburned.  So make sure you bring SUN SCREEN to keep from getting burnt, make sure your cloths are very comfortable and that you know how they will feel after a long day and make sure you bring some medical or surgical tape, or bandaids or blister kits to protect, pad or cover spots on your skin that might get sore, blistered, chafed or scraped.  Nothing will make you miserable faster than the weather, and the next thing that will make you miserable is something wrong with your skin.

5.  As far as getting too hot / cold / wet, read above about bringing the correct clothing.  Then read about having cab money to get you back to the bus quicker.

6.  You are LOST.  You've not a clue where you are, where your bus is nor what time it is.  So bring a watch, don't depend on your cell phone for the time. Make sure you have a card with you with your bus number, the name or company of the bus, and where its located.  If you are one of these people who get lost, then stay in a group of people who do not get lost.  Do not go off on your own.  It would be good advice for people who get along and like each other to form groups of 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 8 or 10 and stay with each other for the trip.  That makes it more fun, and you can take each other's picture and you can all share your video etc....  If you have a really smart computer literate child who is not with you, you can call him/her and say, I'm at the intersection of X and Y and they can find where you are on google maps / earth and then tell you where to go to find your bus.

7.  If your camera / video batteries are going to die during the trip, bring extras ! or keep it off when you are not using it.

JULY 4th FREEDOM RALLY ANNOUNCED !!

By popular demand, the Morehead Tea Party Patriots will be holding a Re-Declare Your Independence rally on Saturday, July 4 from 8AM to 9 AM in front of Carteret Community College. The rally is a continuation of our movement which held its most recent rally on Tax Day at the Parkway Shopping Center.

The public is welcome to attend. Several well-versed speakers will be addressing the importance of the very precious Freedom we enjoy in the United States of America. They will also be addressing the dangers currently facing that Freedom . Attendees are encouraged to bring their flags, banners and signs expressing their commitment to maintaining our freedom forever. They will also have the opportunity to sign several petitions and to commit to a very short Pledge to not only do all they can to maintain our Liberty, but to also pledge they will hold our elected officials, locally, statewide and nationally, accountable for every penny that is spent by each of these governments. The Pledge personally commits each signer to first act to reverse all deficit spending; which alone represents an enormous danger to our Freedom to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Every day people say " There's nothing I can do to stop the reckless madness our country has been spiraling into for several years". Our event offers the chance to act simply by one's presence, by signing their name to documents which will be sent to Beaufort, Raleigh and Washington, DC.

This is a NON-partisan event. We would appreciate that all attendees refrain from bringing signs which directly address political parties or elected officials ( past or present). The event is presented to allow all to express their love of America and their hopes and prayers for our country’s future.

As the 4th of July is the busiest day in Carteret County, we will be providing Pledge and petition locations (see below)

WHY BOTHER PAY S.S. TAX ? (Besides that it is the LAW)

Instead of allowing private capital to Drill at Home and Drill NOW!, we are wasting $billions we don't have on renewable energy, Adding the proposed socialized medicine, and on and on, we're now looking at the hard -earned money we have put into Social Security and Medicaid running out by 2037 and 2017 respectively. For more, see this May 13 report from the Wall Street Journal.

Morehead Tax Day Tea Party Coalition News Update, May 10

Morehead Tax Day Tea Party Coalition News Update

Over the last few weeks our group has needed some time to catch it's breath; both here and across the country. We have been looking to resolve several issues you have been asking about which we hope you will find addressed below. First, THANK YOU! Thank you for coming together and making your voices heard along with 1.2 million plus other Americans on April 15. Thanks to all who have contributed in their own special way ( see Kyra Moore's letter in the May 6th edition of the Carteret County News Times ). Also Thanks to 107.1 FM, The Talk Station for helping us expend our message and broadcasting from the rally on April 15

Whats Next ?

A Message: We have now posted a Mission Statement on www.moreheadteaparty.com. Our focus is narrow: Reduce the National Debt, State Debt and the taxes and spending that go along with these. Also, enforcement and restoration of the Constitution as it was intended. If our movement broadens its scope further, we will lose folks who differ on peripheral issues. There are plenty of other very important issues, but the odds are that the candidates who pledge to support our mission statement will also be supportive of many of our other concerns. Let's face it....if we go bankrupt, most other issues will little matter. For now, we are primarily focusing on the Election on 2010, though we will continue well beyond.

Converging with Like Minded Organizations: At this point the best representative national organization for our cause is www.teapartypatriots.org. We will supply links on our website for other organizations too. We also would like your input on teapartypatriots.org and other movements. Our goal is to get the best national turnout at upcoming events and follow-through to 2010 and beyond.

National 4th of July Rally: There are already hundreds of events planned across America. Our rally will be at 8:00 AM in Morehead City at a location soon to be 100% confirmed. It will last one hour. We are also hoping to have other day long locations available in areas such as Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Beaufort and Newport where locals and visitors can come and go and sign a petition in hopes of getting our overall Jult 4th participation numbers even higher. The 4th of July carries many family traditions including parades, barbecues, and fireworks. Our intention is to do our best to avoid disrupting people's time honored traditions on this greatest day in America's history.

Volunteers Needed

For any of this to happen is going to require plenty of volunteers, both to plan and hold the Morehead Rally, and to do "shift work" getting petitions signed at the other locations. Among the original organizers, during the month of June and through the 4th, most have family commitments ( weddings planned) or heavy seasonal tourist industry related businesses to maintain. New committee members are needed ASAP to make this happen. Please contact Don Acree at dacree@ec.rr.com if you are interested or know someone who may be interested. We would like to reorganize along with other current members Kyra Moore ( co-chair), Melissa Poag , Sarah Fitzpatrick and Nancy Willis in the very near future.

Future Plans

At least two large national rallies are planned in Washington DC over September . We will most likely focus on Saturday Sept. 12 during the early to mid-morning , but we would love to hear your thoughts.

We are also going to build our base on the local, state and national level. This base will be planning and executing strategies to place officials in office from Beaufort to Raleigh to Washington, DC who pledge to support our agenda as expressed in our mission statement.

WE ARE SILENT NO MORE !

Morehead Tax Day Tea Party Update April 16, 2009

Thanks to everyone who attended the Party yesterday. It was only a beginning, but a great start. We are co-ordinating with other Tea Party groups and fiscally conservative groups as to the best way forward. A common thread is that a document be drawn up on which any right-minded people can come to terms. This will be a pledge that every elected official ( and everyone running for office) will be expected to sign. Should they not sign, they will be identified publicly. They will be advised they will not be receiving our vote. Further, if they break the pledge they are history. Your input is important as this is drafted.Once drafted, it will be presented to everyone on this mail list for comment. Please be patient. Most organizers have a day job and will be doing the best they can. Everyone will be able to participate in the process. Much more to come on this.

For a good look at yesterdays event, we recommend you visit http://keoughp.wordpress.com/2009/04/15/proud-to-be-an-american/

You'll see poetic commentary and many pictures of the event.

One number we would like to release is that over 900 people signed our Constitution petition yesterday which will be sent to Washington. Many more attended but were unable to sign. We should have an online petition for those who were unable to sign on our website soon. One thought is for it to be taken toWashington D.C. by our local Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. Your thoughts? Currently you are one of 150 citizens on our mailing list. Another 350 citizens signed up for the list at yesterday's Party.

Right now and probably through tomorrow TV 49 is showing video from the event at 25 mins and 55 mins after the hour ( except in the evenings). We will be posting video on www.moreheadteaparty.com in a day or two.

Again, thanks to all who attended and supported our Party yesterday !
